Finally, something to brighten up an appalling weekend results-wise.

Re: France Vs England Rugby Union
meaningless friendlies. would kinda prefer England beating us next up to dampen the hype pre the real thing.

There's hype over Ireland?

First I've heard of it down here.

You know that half the team played last week and half this week right?

Re: France Vs England Rugby Union
So England are still deserving of their favouritism?

Good.

So much pressure to perform in a home world cup.

;-)

Re: France Vs England Rugby Union
2 of the best players I have seen in these warm ups have been Burgess last week and Danny Cips ... bet neither are in the squad... Burrell and Ford were rubbish today

stewie griffin 11:08 Sun Aug 23
Re: France Vs England Rugby Union
Cipriani was sensational. Has to make the squad.

Takashi Miike 12:10 Sun Aug 23
Re: France Vs England Rugby Union
cips should be starting at TEN but there's little chance of that with son of MIKE & son of ANDY available. the same old 'if your face fits' shit is in place, rather than talent being rewarded. why is burrell still getting a game?

Re: France Vs England Rugby Union
The problem for England, and it first started to flash to me was during the 6N, is Lancaster. In many ways he is to England what Allardyce was to West Ham. Just what was needed at the time but now holding the side back.

Why oh why does he keep picking May. I kid you not, other than a flat foot race, I AM BETTER THAN JM. When his gas goes nobody will play him. Twelvetrees....he wouldn't make a Southern Hemisphere dirt trackers 15. Why are we playing a full back in Watson on the wing? That'll work against sides outside the top 3 but the Aussies, ABs and Boks will use that lack of positional skill against him. May should never be anywhere near the squad. Should have been Yarde. Quick and a more physical option from the others.

And just be thankful Manu has a temper. He's worse than Twelvetrees.

Eng team for Ireland;

Brown

Nowell, Watson, Barritt, Joseph, Ford

Morgan, Robshaw, Wood
Lames, launchbury
Marla, Cole, youngs

Bench to include; Cips, SB, George + 4 fwds. Giving Those first 3 minimum of half.

Takashi Miike 3:13 Sun Aug 23
Re: France Vs England Rugby Union
totally agree about yarde. why are they not using him, I can't remember him ever letting us down. maybe it goes back to my point about 'face fitting' with lancaster

HairySpotter 3:19 Sun Aug 23
Re: France Vs England Rugby Union
did I hear right yesterday that CIPs may not even make WC squad?

Takashi Miike 3:22 Sun Aug 23
Re: France Vs England Rugby Union
yes, hairy. Lancaster has truly fucked up over the past two years

HairySpotter 3:23 Sun Aug 23
Re: France Vs England Rugby Union
unbelievable if that happens. looked to me yesterday like he could finally fulfil his potential

Takashi Miike 3:31 Sun Aug 23
Re: France Vs England Rugby Union
hairy, there's so much favouritism with Lancaster. he persists with a number ten in ford who has zero kicking power or physicality and offers little in attack. vunipola at eight is for me poor, but ben morgan still looks a bit short of sharpness. haskell's never been good enough for me and wood should always start in front of him

DocMarten 4:47 Sun Aug 23
Re: France Vs England Rugby Union
Takashi..

Agree with much of that, although I think Ford is a good 10. Cips has that little 'spark' but I don't think he's consistent enough to have ousted Ford. Vunipola..agree totally. He seems to either play a stormer or you wouldn't know he was on the pitch. I prefer BM, yet his better performances havE generally been off the bench..a tough one. Easter to jump the pair?

Haskell is good for tight arm wrestling fixtures such as Argies, Boks and the French...considerably less effective in less physical matches. Rotate between the two dependent upon the oppo?

I think we could well have seen the last of Manu as a STARTING player. SB will offer he same physical threat, yet better hands, leadership and ability.

My 9 is Danny Care, offers the zip that Youngs doesn't off the base.

Re: France Vs England Rugby Union
I have no problems starting with Ford at 10 but to have Cips on the bench that can play 10, centre and FB and also change games from those positions... saw quite a bit of the prem' this year and he was for me the stand out fly half... I think Lancaster probably deep down wanted Cips and Burgess to fail as it would make his job a hell of a lot easier... you need X factor to go well in RWC's... we have it with Joseph... and also in Cips...
